Jumpup in St. Croix
| In the Caribbean, Jumpups are
street parties, with music and activities. In
Christiansted this happens four times a year. It begins
about 6pm and ends around 10pm. The stores stay open, offer
sales, food & drink are sold on the streets, and steel
drum bands as well as other live music are on every corner.
The Mocko Jumbies, the Quadrille dancers, and other artisans
perform in the streets. The jumpups are in November,
February, April and July. |
