The total
population is about 110,000, with 8% of this spread through
the smaller islands of the Grenadines. The majority is
on St. Vincent, especially in Kingstown.

time it is in the Eastern Time Zone in summer, it is also
the same in the Windwards during our sailing season.

| History |
The
Arawak Indians were the original settlers, being conquered
by the Caribs in the 1500s. By the 1800's there were
plantations growing sugar, cotton, cocoa and manned by
slaves and the islands were part of the British
Commonwealth. The volcanic eruptions played an
important part in the survival of the islands. In 1969 the
islands became independent. |
